The woman in the fab 30's knit dress is Bonnie, of Bonnie and Clyde, who is also seen embracing him in the other photo, and the guy in the sweater with the multiple shots was involved in the Lincoln assasination. Check out this Flickr page for more!

Those Lincoln asassination photos look bizarrly modern and fashion/model-ish....
like, if you cropped it right it could be either:
a.) an ad for "product"
b.) a myspace photo

I was kind of obsessed with that picture of Lewis Powell in high school. His gaze in those photos still gives me chills. He knows with dispassionate, calculating certainty that he's going to hang.

It took five minutes on the gallows to kill him, the longest of any of the co-conspirators.

Sic semper tyrannis indeed.

yeah, that photo is pretty famous, probably due mostly to the fact that he's such a hottie, and because the photo looks so modern and fashiony. i know i read about his backstory but of course forgot 90% of it. i didn't think about how he was being photographed prior to be hanged, though.
